About the University of Bialystok

The University of Bialystok was founded by virtue of the Act of 19th June 1997 as a thirteenth university in Poland from the Branch of Warsaw University, which was established by virtue of a decree of Minister of Science and Higher Education - Prof. Henryk Jabłoński, as of 15th July 1968. The first inauguration of the academic year at the University of Bialystok was in 1997/1998.
The University currently employs more than 1,300 people, including almost 800 university teachers who work in 15 faculties and the Branch Faculty in Vilnius.

The University can also boast about its didactic and research facilities. The new campus was the largest investment in the history of the University. Thanks to the new educational corps, interest in the university and such specialties as biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics increased significantly. The facility has about 840 premises, including audiences, staff offices, laboratories. A library, planetarium and astronomical observatory are now under construction on campus. The buildings where law, economics, management and sociology students attend lectures and classes are centrally situated and co-form Bialystok’s historic centre.
